Going International….

March 29, 2011 Uncategorized 1

Just recently I was traveling, and I saw a “Something-something international church for all nations”…made of mabati! (iron sheets). I thought to myself, “Does it really intend to reach the whole world and make a difference in it? Perhaps if it had a media ministry/department, and was on TV or at least had a website and email/online communication system…” Why do we think our importance is based on reaching the world, “feeding a hungry child in Africa?” That child in your home needs feeding, or she’ll become the next world food project. That neighbor on a wheelchair needs a visitor, that sick person needs a note of encouragement, and any of these people could be your very own family members! What you do where you are matters, a LOT. It doesn’t have to “reach the world” it just has to reach YOUR world. You do make an important difference where you are, you do! I wish we’d all know this and appreciate the worth and value of our contribution to our personal worlds. It would save so much heartache and disappointments. *That having been said, it is not to discourage the spread of good works to even more people and countries, but rather to encourage that what you do where you are is important and matters very much, it’s importance does not have to be validated by “going global”, it is important simply because it meets an existing need, and solves a current problem. Your contribution is important…your life does count for something worthy and special. 1Jo 4:20 If any one says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, cannot love God whom he has not seen. 1Jo 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. Mt 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, Mt 25:36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ Mt 25:40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’
