Beautiful (?) accompaniments
I was listening to some music the other day, and the beats were really good, got me nodding’ my head, and had there been room, I’d have jigged it all the way, you know. However, when it came time for the ‘verse,’ I wasn’t able to hear what the singer was saying. The beats were soooooo loud; I could barely make out his voice.
It’s just like in real life, sometimes our accompaniments are so loud that our lyrics can’t be heard. Our cosmetics tend to overshadow our authentic; we put greater emphasis on our outside ministry than our character with God…and get it all out of proportion.
I was challenged to watch out for my “lyrics,” so that people get the real deal, what it’s all about – the message in the words of the song, and not just the beats. Sometimes it’s easy to miss it.
1 Pet. 3: 3,4 let not yours be the outward adorning with braiding of hair, decorations of gold, and wearing of fine clothing, but let it be the hidden person of the heart…with the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.
